Frequently Asked Questions

(Show questions & answers)

What should I wear to class?

Wear whatever you can move around in freely that makes you feel sassy and inspired. It should also be something you won't mind getting a bit sweaty. For some people that means fishnets and a cute camisole. For others that means yoga pants and an old camp t-shirt. Generally, the people who wear something flirty tend to get more out of the workshops. Heels are an asset, but not mandatory. Above all, dress so that you feel comfortable. At the end of every class description, I indicate any specialty items that you should try to bring -- if you have them. If you don't, we can usually work around it.

Do I have to take my clothes off?

NO. It's entirely up to you to decide what you want to do when. You can always pantomine the removal of a layer that you don't have or don't want to take off. And in any time we do approach striptease elements, we've got nice low lighting and privacy curtains to make even the shyest person comfortable. It's always a laid-back giggly group.

Is burlesque just for skinny minis? What if I'm too big to take dance classes?

Burlesque is very embracing of all body types. So many local performers have dangerous curves and the gusto to match. It doesn't matter what size you are; it's all about living with verve and taking a bold step to try something new!

I've never danced before. Is this going to be too hard for me?

No. Each workshop goes step by step so it's easy for anyone to follow along. Everyone comes away saucier and so will you!

I signed up, but at the last minute my two friends wanted to come too. Can I bring them?

Yes! You should always bring your cheekiest girlfriends. Pre-registration is generally preferred so I can get a sense of how many practice props to bring. But drop-ins are definately welcome.

If I take these workshops, does this mean I have to perform in a show?

No. Each workshop will show you techniques you can put into your bag of tricks whether you're already a performer, thinking of becoming one, or if you have a special someone at home you'd like to wow. You can drop in and out at any time. Easy, breezy.

When is the next time we can see you live on stage?

What Private Students Say...

(Show testimonials)

"When I went out on tour in 2007 I was completely lost as to what to do for a troupe dance routine. I wanted something cute and simple. I am not a dancer and I hate choreography.

I went to Coco for some help. And am I ever glad I did. She was so professional and knew exactly what I wanted. She custom tailored a routine to fit our show and though it was simple enough even for me, it looked fantastic and truly intricate without being overly complicated. All in all she saved my life." - Miss Mitzy Cream

"As a burlesque performer and dance choreographer coming up with new acts is always exciting but can be creatively challenging. Sometimes even seasoned dancers tend to rely on the same moves because they feel comfortable and safe. This is where an outside eye comes in handy. I knew I wanted to use fans in my newest "Supernatural" number but I wanted to use them in a new and unique way. I had the dance part down but I had really not worked extensively with fans before, so there was a lot of work to be done.

The first person I thought of to help me was Coco Framboise. She totally understood the image and tone I wanted to set for the new act and she helped me realize my vision. I've received nothing but compliments on my fan work and the act always gets a big response. I have been so pleased with everything from the concept through to the performance, and Coco helped make it a showstopper!" - Miss Honey B. Hind
